The Walden Wombles had their first-ever event on 6th June 2021 as part of the Keep Britain Tidy’s annual Great British Spring Clean fortnight, attended by a number of enthusiastic volunteers.
The litter pick took place from Catons Lane Car Park, covering the open areas round the Football Club, the Cricket pitch and the park and playground. A good number of rubbish sacks were filled, including a large number of bottles and cans and even an old laptop. Litter picking equipment was supplied by Uttlesford District Council who also disposed of the collected rubbish.
